Due to popular demand the Taster workshops have now been split into separate Sourdough & Foraging sessions.  All proceeds from the foraging workshops will go back to support the running & maintenance of Springburn Gardens Association.  Details of each workshop are as follows;

SOURDOUGH WORKSHOPS

All of the workshops will give you an opportunity to experience working with different types of sourdoughs & flours & how they feel & behave. You will leave with your own starter to cultivate at home & some sourdough which you will have made during the course of the session to finish proving & bake at home.  You'll have the knowledge, (plus notes of course), to successfully go on to to make & bake your own sourdough.  After support will be given so if you experience any hitches you can be rest assured that help will be on hand.

A light lunch will be provided, ( I don't want you leaving hungry!), some of which you will have made yourselves during the workshop.

 

FORAGING WORKSHOPS


We will meet at Springburn Allotments where we will set off to explore the heritage site & the nature reserve.  We will identify & gather a variety of easily recognisable edible plants, which we will then prepare to go with our meal.  What we prepare depends upon what is in season at the time.  We will be cover blossom syrups, fermented veggies with various foraged ingredients & also make a foraged starter to go with the meal.  You will leave the workshop with notes on the plants you have collected & their uses, both culinary & medicinal, along with the confidence to go out & gather food from wild places yourself in the future.  There will be an opportunity to meet some of the plot holders & when she is available, Delia, our resident Bee keeper will be on hand to chat about her wonderful bees.

A seasonal stew will be served for lunch, with both a meat & vegan option, plus a seasonal dessert, with a foraged twist, along with plenty of refreshments throughout the course of the session.  You won't be leaving the site hungry!
